Observe New Mexico Elections (ONME) is a nonpartisan observation effort designed to increase trust and transparency in our elections. The effort, led by and for New Mexicans, will assess whether statutory electoral procedures are consistently and accurately followed and will provide timely, comprehensive public information about the quality of the 2024 general election. The Observe New Mexico Elections effort is funded by The Carter Center, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization with highly regarded global expertise in impartial election observation. The Carter Center will also provide training and technical support.
Voters selected from all 33 counties will learn about relevant laws and procedures in New Mexico’s electoral process and will report on how those procedures are implemented. They will report on what they see as impartially and accurately as possible using structured forms and other standardized observation tools, but they will in no way interfere in the election process. Their reports will be aggregated to provide a detailed, data-driven assessment about the conduct of elections in New Mexico. The presence of ONME election observers helps to reassure New Mexico voters.
The mission of Observe New Mexico Elections is to increase transparency and trust in New Mexico’s elections by training and deploying non partisan election observers throughout the state. Observers will report on how election laws and procedures are followed, representing all voters without interfering in the electoral process. Findings from their observations will be compiled to assess the overall quality…
